About Melinda Henshaw; Tiwal NZ and Australia.
Melinda grew up in the South Island of New Zealand; learning to sail in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds from childhood. After progressing through the racing classes; racing and training around the world, Melinda raced 470's at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
She currently races and teaches sailing professionally in Auckland, New Zealand; everyone from beginners to champions; and from dinghies to keelboats and yacht-owners. She also coaches disabled sailors at Sailability Auckland. She recently skippered the winning Ladies crew in the 2020 RNZYS Women's MRX Series, and has won the Women's MRX Keelboat Nationals twice.
Melinda visits Australia regularly with Tiwal. In 2019, she toured outback Australia by 4WD; sailing Tiwals on Cooper Creek, South Australia; finishing the tour with Tiwal 2's first sail on Sydney Harbour.
She is passionate about getting people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities into sailing. "It is a sport for life. Learning on a TIWAL means having a comfortable, stable boat on which to learn all the essential skills of sailing ... any time, anywhere!"
