ABOUT ME: My name is Melinda Henshaw and I grew up in the South Island of New Zealand. I learnt to sail in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds and went on to sail for New Zealand at the Sydney Olympics. I currently teach sailing at the Buckland's Beach Yacht Club and for Sailability in Auckland. Im passionate about getting people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities into sailing - it is a sport for life.
I run the TIWAL business from my home in Auckland - literally out of my garage! I love the challenge of promoting the TIWAL to Australians and New Zealanders. I have met so many people from all walks of life from Outback Australia to Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown. I do my best to see to the safety and enjoyment of my customers including sailing lessons where necessary!
ABOUT TIWAL: The TIWAL is designed by Marion Excoffon, a French industrial designer, who was inspired to make her own boat when she wasn't allowed to take the family boat out by herself! Marion teamed up with a yacht design firm to come up with the concept of the TIWAL. Marion and her husband, Emmanuel, run the business and live in a beautiful part of Brittany, France, where they organise the TIWAL Cup each year.
